Katrina Victim Card Played Again by City Officials

Here we go again people, Mayor Ray Nagin uses his "Katrina Victim Card" in another feeble attempt to get sympathy for New Orleans. It was announced earlier this week that New Orleans wouldn't get to host one of the upcoming Presidential Debates. A Federal Official stated that New Orleans had not recovered enough to host this event. Local talk radio and others went blasting away at this comment as if someone had just slapped them in the face. Well guess what? New Orleans is not ready to host an event of this nature or any other. Local leaders talk as if everything in this city is good enough for a national event like this but they forget the main reason, I think, that this event was sent elsewhere. That reason is CRIME. Let's just take a look at a few facts. First, New Orleans has a population of around 500,000 people and has had almost 200 murders so far this year. I think the number is higher as a few month ago statistics were brought to light saying that they didn't consider it a murder if the victim was not dead at the scene when police arrived. The murder rate here is so bad that a person is less likely to be killed in Iraq than in New Orleans. Now let's go to New York City. It has a population of around 8,500,000 and has had 420 murders this year. Ok people I know that leap test scores show a delinquency in math in this state but just look at the numbers. It is a wonder that anybody is still in this city. I think we should use the Democrat Harry Reid's philosophy...."The war is lost we need to get our troops out now." New Orleans will continue to be lost in a quagmire until its citizens demand that their leaders do something and quit trying to play the victim and blame the Federal Government.
